Dramatic Play area

Dress up clothes, including multicultural ones, are provided for both genders. Multicultural dolls and dolls with varying physical abilities are also included.

Dramatic play is enriched with themed prop boxes, such as: firefighter, police officer, doctor/nurse, judge, astronaut, restaurant worker, ballet dancer, pilot, singer, construction worker, grocery store, hair stylist, florist, or beach party.

A wall of windows in the classroom give children chances to easily watch seasonal changes and provide beneficial natural lighting.

The telephone booth encourages communication. Children for whom English is a second language have found playing in the telephone booth a "safe way" to try out their emerging English. One year, seven children --all from Korea--were lined up to use it! 

Children can choose from a collection of dramatic play kits that are labeled with written words and corresponding pictures. Shown are prop kits for playing grocery store, astronaut, beach party, pilot/singer or hair stylist. Other dramatic play kits include: florist, construction worker, dancer, police officer, fire fighter, cheerleader, restaurant, doctor/nurse, and Santa & Elves.
