In 1990 I was a practicum student at ISU Child Care Center, then I was hired as a teacher aide and worked at the center until I graduated in May 1992. In May 1992, I taught two and three year old children at a day care center in Kankakee, IL. In August 1993, I became the 2 year old Team Teacher at ISU Child Care Center. I have worked as a Team Teacher with our 2's as well as our mixed age group classroom of 3-5 year old children.
Why I Work with Young Children
Children are naturally inquisitive people. They want to know about anything and everything. I enjoy being a daily part of their lives as they explore and discover the unknown. The kids love to investigate and are always anxious to share their findings with others.
My favorite thing about working with children is their carefree attitude. They are always laughing, smiling and enjoying life. The kids seem to notice the simple pleasures in life such as finding a ladybug or listening to the music made by a wind chime. As adults, we are often too busy to enjoy the world around us. Kids have a way of helping those around them sit back, relax and smell the roses!
